Bugaboo, the Hot Designer Baby Stroller Whose Functionality Makes It Worth the Investment
If Bugaboo has made your short list, you are a style-conscious parent making a smart investment. Bugaboo strollers are the most versatile baby vehicles on the market today. This designer baby stroller company is leading a revolution in functionality. For example, the Bugaboo Frog is a 3-in-1 baby travel system that will accommodate a child from infancy through kindergarten! This award-winning, best-rated stroller was designed by a Dutch engineer and a medical doctor.
Talk about a convertible stroller: the Frog has an adjustable, reversible, and removable bassinet so that you can stroll choose to have your precious little bundle in the infant carriage facing you or facing the world. If you would prefer to use an infant car seat, it has adapters for Peg Perego and Graco seats that can slip onto the chassis facing both directions. It has two small wheels that smoothly navigate curbs and bumps. It has two large wheels for off-roading. It can be converted to a beach stroller by removing the two small wheels, for easier pushing on sand (or snow for that matter). It is a lightweight stroller that folds compactly like an umbrella stroller to fit into a small trunk or hall closet. You can add accessories like the Wheeled Board so that big brother or sis can also hop a ride on the Frog!
The Cameleon is aptly named. It is as close to a custom stroller as it gets off-the-line, with a wide array of stylish color choices and combinations — it’s a wonder that there are any two alike on the sidewalks! Like the Frog, it comes with a bassinet and a seat so you can stroll your infant out of the hospital and through toddlerhood without ever buying another frame.
Bugaboos win with dads not only because it comes in cool, manly colors like denim, aubergine and sand but also because its adjustable handlebars make it possible for those over 6-foot to avoid bending awkwardly to steer or from taking short steps to keep from kicking the tires.
Without a doubt, this is a high end, luxury stroller line. The Frog, the Gecko and the Cameleon all bring intelligent design and excitement to the formerly mundane baby buggy. As a Bugaboo owner, you join the ranks of celebrity parents who are not skimping on style for this every day item. However, considering that this is an accessory that you will use for years to come, it’s worth thinking long term. Think quality stroller over quantity because this one ride can replace the five different models that serve the same function.
Prices vary based on options. Click the buttons below on any of the models to see the incredible number of handling positions and detailed features, included items, weight, dimensions and model reviews. We are pleased to offer quick shipping on most of our Bugaboos.
The Frog
It was hard to find less than stellar reviews for this stroller so I'm going to add my two cents: It can be tricky to fold because the seat has to be removed first. The basket could be bigger and the sun canopy could be bigger too. But that's just me. Here's what actual customers had to say...
"Yes, this product is sooo expensive. but it's worth every penny. it's very versatile (i can always keep my baby out of the sun by flipping the handle), easy to put together and take in and out of your car trunk, very comfortable for the baby, fits your baby from birth till a long while later, has tons of useful and cute accessories, and has great resale value. worth every single penny."
"I had to write a review after reading the one who said her baby stopped fitting in her Frog. My 3 year old (who is a big boy!) LOVES his frog still. We are expecting a new baby any day, and I think my son is going to be really jealous when she takes over his stroller. My son's favorite thing about this stroller is that he can lie completely flat and I put a blanket on him, put down the canopy and he feels so safe and secure. It is also so fun to be able to move the handle bar back and forth so easily as you're walking. You won't believe how often this feature is used! If he is facing forward and there is sun in his eyes, I just rotate the stroller so that he's now facing me while we walk. He loves it! I would say that the major drawback to this stroller- aside from the obvious high price tag- is the amount of room it takes up in your trunk! We have a jeep grand cherokee so there is plenty to room, but not much room left for other stuff with the stroller inside. It also took me awhile to open the stroller- I figured it out now, but it's not quite as easy or quick as say a Graco travel system or one of those snap n go's. Taking the stroller apart into the 2 pieces is very easy and seems quick enough. The bag underneath is great, and I actually love where the break is because I hang shopping bags or my purse from the brake attached to the handlebar. Overall, I LOVE my frog, wouldn't trade it for anything and feel proud walking around with it wherever I go."

The Gecko
Experts say that having your baby face you while they stroll makes a world of difference in language development. If that is the case and/or your preference, the Gecko is great. It comes with bells and whistles: a rain cover, mosquito netting, underseat bag and a two-year warranty.
On the downside, adjusting the seat positions can be tricky. Also, the hand brake is not that easy to use. Folding can be difficult and cumbersome, and I'm concerned about babies and kids getting their fingers stuck between the seats.
Clare says, "Our Gecko has been used everyday, taken everywhere: across snow, sand, up and down mountains, thrown into boots, on planes, everywhere we go it goes! It can turn on a pin and is a smooth ride, my baby can sleep for hours in that thing (both basinette and seat mode). I love that it is narrow and nifty...it can fit down supermarket checkouts without any problems. I think most of all is that we have found it to be really durable. we have thrown that thing around and it has no sign of wear or slowing down.
Just wish they made a double!" :)
Mike says, "Why does the Chameleon get such great user reviews on here and the Gecko get pretty ordinary ones? It's almost exactly the same pram people. Minus the adjustable handle and the grab bar, plus slightly lighter to boot. Also considerably cheaper than the Chameleon. It's a good stroller. Moves and steers very easily. Light, sturdy, safe. My kid loves it. I have the optional wheeled travel bag, which is fantastic for airline travel. It's good value for what you get. Like anything, you get what you pay for. Buy a cheap pram and you get a piece of junk that makes your like more difficult than it can be. Pros: Sturdy, light, easy to push. Cons: Have to take the seat off to fold it. Kind of big when folded."

The Cameleon
Personalization: The Bugaboo Cameleon is for the parent who wants the latest materials, the brightest colors; it reflects his or her personality through the color combinations of the basic fabric mixed and matched with the tailored fabrics. All this plus the height-adjustable handlebar and swivel wheels with adjustable suspension make it the definition of mobile comfort. The color combinations are endless... there's a Cameleon designed for you! And an actual user says...
"This is a ridiculous amount of money to spend on a stroller. We were given it and were shocked at the generosity of our friends but since we have it have it, here's my review. It's AMAZING.
It's versatile, lightweight, and there has not yet been a situation we could not use it for. It comes with all the accessories you need: mosquito net, raincoat, and canopy. The other big benefit is the bassinet. Our baby slept in the bassinet until she was 6 weeks old, then transitioned to a crib. So we actually saved some money there. You can use this system from birth until the child grows out of it, moving from the bassinet to the seat.
The seat has three positions: horizontal for sleeping, semi-reclined, or fully upright. Your baby can face you or face out, and the chassis can have small wheels forward (for pavement) or big wheels forward (for rough terrain). All these adjustments can be done with a quick click, with the child in the stroller. The handle can be folded down, which essentially turns the stroller into a seat, particularly good for restaurants without highchairs. We also purchased the car seat adaptor so with another click you can load in the infant seat and not disturb a sleeping baby. The under carriage has a roomy drawstring bag that fits a lot, and doesn't spill everything out once the stroller is folded. The whole thing folds up easily and fits into the trunk of my Prius.
I'm not sure if we would have spent the money ourselves, but I now believe it would be worth it. This is the only stroller you will need to buy, and it takes you through every possible situation with ease. I love this stroller!"
