Maclaren-Volo-stroller.gifIf you are buying a Maclaren stroller, you already know that they win the prize for lightweight maneuverability. The Maclaren Volo embodies the award-winning design of Owen Maclaren’s original 1965 umbrella model. Its classic modern aluminum tubing construction is the basis for all the company’s lightweight strollers. The ergonomic handlebars are the secret to its maneuverability. If you visit the mommy blogosphere you’ll see frequent exclamations like, “I’ll only buy Maclaren!”

The steering on models like the Quest are also reknowned. Moms boast of easy one-handed steering, even in tight urban spaces. The Quest can also be folded and carried with one hand… so you can still look hip and catch the next train! If your mod little diva absolutely has to have a pink stroller, the Quest, Techno and Volo come in fashionable Powder Pink or Coral Pink.

Twin Triumph

After extensive research the only con's I was able to find about the Twin Triumph were that it didn't have the shock absorption and UV sun visors of the Twin Techno. Some parents also wanted more storage and more sun shade. Although when you stack it up against other side-by-side's sunshades, the Twin Triumph's are still the most ample. Here's what other parent's have to say about it:

"This stroller is great! It is lightweight and comfortable for both girls and easy to maneuver as we stroll through our neighborhood sidewalks and (paved) walking path. I have the seat reclined for the little one and my oldest can sit up and look around. I love that they can sit next to each other. I also love that each seat holds up to 55 lbs., which means that we can use it for quite a while."

"This thing pushes like a dream...with both in and with only one (EITHER ONE!) I can manage with ONE hand! Nice little bonuses: Seats come out and are machine washable, sun shades are removeable and easy to take on and off, and the rain cover easy and nice to have. Folds up compactly, easily, and fairly light weight. Also fits easily into a car trunk! Storage good, not super, but that is easily fixed with a bag on you or the stroller."

Triumph

Like all Maclarens, parents love the fact that this stroller is compact and light. Note that it doesn't recline flat so it's not ideal for infants under 4 months old. It's also quite pricey and parents have requested a bigger basket as well as a cupholder. But here are what the families say...

"As an urban family, we were looking for a light-weight stroller that could jump onto public transportation as well as handle the bumps and cracks of all our sidewalks. I can actually pick up this stroller and walk up a flight of stairs with the baby strapped in, great for racing for the train... It's pretty easy to collapse and unfold (but you need two hands!) The handles are tall enough for mom and dad. It folds up well and can tuck in a corner or stand up in a closet."

"I have a hard time unsnapping the buckle. The sun shade thingy doesn't really provide any sun shade for a 5 month old, maybe when she's taller but I doubt it. Otherwise it's great because its small, compact and I thought it was sort of light, but I never have tried to pick up any other strollers."

"The rain hood is easy to use and provides very good coverage. We love the handles, as they are very comfortable. The wheels are maneuverable and the seats washable. The only con about this stroller is that it is missing a cup holder. Be sure to remove all large items from the basket below before you close and fold up the stroller."

Easy Traveler Car Seat Stroller

It's Maclaren's version of the snap-n-go car seat frame. Reviews of the Easy Traveler are very positive. Here are a couple of reviews but click through to our partner site to read more.

"We decided on this stroller instead of the bulky travel systems that are available. It is extremely lightweight, very easy to steer, and opens with one hand! I have heard that it is a little more expensive than the other "snap-and-go" strollers, but it really isn't too much of a $ difference.. From my shopping comparision, this model might be anywhere from $10-$20 more than the others available. Plus, the others that I have tried do not steer as well, they fold differently (I found the umbrella style fold that this offers much more convienent), and the quality was not as nice. We are very happy with it."

"We bought this stroller to use with the Britax Companion Infant carseat carrier. Although there isn't a clicking sound when you attach the carseat to the stroller, there are straps that secure it properly. The handle bars aren't adjustable, but the comfort level was just fine for me at 5"4 and for my 4 1/2 daughter, she was able to maneuver the stroller without issues. Overall, the construction and design of the Mclaren stroller seems to be better than the others that are available in the market.
"We decided on this stroller instead of the bulky travel systems that are available. It is extremely lightweight, very easy to steer, The fact that it folds like an umbrella stroller finalized the decision to purchase this item. Purchasing through strollers.com was cheaper than many other retail and on-line stores."

Twin Techno

Parents and product designers rave about the Twin Techno for its features: a fully reclining seat, lightweight (26-pound) for a double stroller, and narrow frame that can fit through standard 30-inch doorways. It's durability and ease of maneuvering also scores lots of points. On the downside, some parents miss the snack tray and report that it is difficult to fold.

"After using the double snap-n-go with our twins in their infant seats, we transitioned to the Maclaren Twin Techno. It is a dream to maneuver, light and sturdy, and fits easily into the trunk of my sedan. It comes with cup/bottle holders you can snap to the back of the stroller. There is no snack tray, but we usually use our Snack Traps anyway."

"The stroller is very easy to push, and comfortable for both me (5 ft 3 in) and my husband (6 ft 3 in). Our twins enjoy riding side-by-side and often hold hands as we go exploring. We often walk to the grocery store to pick up milk and I am able to store 3 cartons of milk and 20 jars of baby food in the under seat storage. If the seats are fully reclined, it is difficult to access the storage basket. We take it walking as well as to the grocery store and shopping mall. Sometimes it is difficult to get through aisles in the shopping mall because the clothing racks are too close together, but I have never encountered a doorway that I could not get through."

Techno XT

It's unique fully reclining seat is a big plus for this model. This means that even infants with undeveloped neck muscles can use this umbrella stroller. Like other Maclarens, it's a reliable, lightweight and easy-to-use stroller.

"The stroller fully reclines for diaper changes. Has bigger wheels than the other models. So it rides well. And is the best stroller for tall people. And it fits into our trunk nicely. We wish it had a bigger basket. And it has the best sunshade and plastic rain/wind cover so baby does get too wet or cold."

Techno XLR

Techno XLR Stroller is fully loaded. It's a travel system (with adaptor bar for infant car seats) that is still can boast the lightweight maneuverability of Maclaren. And the four seat positions are a big selling point. Here's what customers are saying:

"I am extremely picky and I had a long list of criteria which my next stroller had to meet - this meets all of them."

"We were looking for a stroller that we could purchase and use for a long time. We were willing to spend the money if it meant we didn't have to buy a second stroller. We wanted something that wasn't too heavy, that was easy to travel with through airports when we go home to visit family and a stroller that would grow with our little one from birth to toddlerdom! We found it! We wanted the ease of snapping a car seat into the stroller without the bulkiness of a travel system, especially after your child has outgrown the infant carseat. This was the only non-travel system stroller that promised this. We were given a snug ride car seat from a friend and it just happens that this stroller works with that car seat so we were set."

There is no real cup carrier to hold your bottle of water or morning tea. (there are other options you can work with). The fact that you can't stick your bag under the seat if the seat is reclined, which it is when you attach a car seat to it. (we knew this going into it so we're o.k. with that). That there isn't a tray that we can later attach to the seat to give the baby a place to have their toys on when they're a little older. That there isn't a travel bag that comes with the stroller so that we can gate check it. (I believe they make this, we just need to find it online elsewhere). It can be hard to figure out how to open and collapse so practice at first and then it becomes a breeze."
