Sit and Stand Strollers Meet Unique Needs of Families

Many parents preparing for baby number two (or three) are looking for creative solutions on how to transport their growing family. Although there is an actual product called Sit-N-Stand by (Baby Trend), more and more manufacturers are offering “sit and stand” strollers of some kind.

A sit and stand stroller is especially advantageous for families who have an age gap between children of at least two or three years. The older one has a choice of sitting or standing on a platform or bench while a younger child uses the traditional stroller seat or infant seat attachment. This style is appealing because it is not as heavy as a full tandem double stroller and is also easier to maneuver.

Peg Perego Plikos, Centros, Unos and Completos come with built-in rear footboard provides safe ride for 2nd passenger. For some parents, the built-in rear footboard that comes with Peg Perego models is a big selling point, knowing they can still use the stroller when another baby enters the picture.

A family with a 3 year old and an 18-month old says of the wheeled board attachment “it makes life easier, particularly in the city where maneuvering a double stroller is difficult.” Another, says “it can go over all sorts of bumps and curbs and click off easily when you don't want to use it.”

Parent reviews of this arrangement are generally positive, although most maintain that it does not necessarily replace a double stroller since one child does not have the option to recline or sleep.
